World Mythology · Unit 6
Roman Gods and Legends
Jupiter, the Roman gods, Romulus and Remus, and Aeneas
Roman religion absorbed the Greek pantheon almost wholesale, but the emphasis is different: Roman myth is preoccupied with the founding and destiny of Rome itself in a way Greek myth never is with any city.
The unit covers Jupiter and the Roman gods, the Greek and Roman name pairs, Romulus and Remus, Aeneas, and the household and state worship that mattered more to daily life than the epic stories did.
This unit breaks down into 19 short steps and 112 questions, starting at difficulty 2 and building to 3. Below you can see exactly what it covers, how the path is structured, and worked examples with explanations.
- Steps
- 19
- Questions
- 112
- Difficulty
- 2-3
What this unit covers
- Aeneas and the Aeneid
- Jupiter and the Roman Gods
- Greek and Roman Name Pairs
- Romulus and Remus
- Vesta, Lares and Roman Worship
Where this fits
Best after Greek Gods and Goddesses, since much of it is a reworking.
Where people slip
The name pairs are not straight translations. Mars is far more central and more respectable in Rome than Ares ever was in Greece, and the character changes with the name.
How the unit is structured
Roman Gods and Legends runs as 19 short steps that unlock in order. 14 are practice rounds and 5 are challenge rounds that pull together everything before them. Questions start at difficulty 2 and climb to 3 as you progress.

Where these questions come from. Each unit starts as a plan of the concepts it should cover and the difficulty it should span. Questions are written against that plan with AI assistance, then checked by a validator that rejects anything without a single defensible answer, an explanation, or plausible wrong options. How we write questions sets out the whole process, and corrections are fixed in the bank and reach the site and the app the same day.
