This track covers deep time properly: not just dinosaurs, but the origin of animals, life moving onto land, the great extinctions, the age of mammals and the ice ages, alongside how palaeontologists actually work out what they claim.

A running theme is the difference between what fossils show and what gets reconstructed around them. Some of what people think they know about dinosaurs comes from confident guesses that later evidence overturned, and the track is clear about which parts are solid.

Palaeontology is a working demonstration of how much can be reconstructed from very little, and it is the clearest case study in science of conclusions being revised as evidence arrives.
