A telescope's main job is collecting light, not magnifying. Aperture is what determines how faint an object you can see, and magnification is comparatively cheap.

The unit covers how telescopes work, refractors and reflectors, observing at wavelengths the eye cannot see, space telescopes and why they are worth the cost, and the famous instruments.

Space telescopes are launched to escape the atmosphere, not to get closer. The gain in distance is negligible; the gain in steadiness and in access to blocked wavelengths is enormous.
