Rivers, the water cycle and flooding

A river is a system that transports water, sediment and energy from high ground to the sea, and its shape at any point tells you which of those it is currently doing most of.

The unit follows a river from source to mouth, covering the landforms erosion and deposition produce at each stage, the drainage basin as the unit of study, the water cycle that keeps it supplied, and flooding as the point where the system meets people.
